MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!

Welcome & hello to you all on this Christmas Eve.

This is my layout for this month's challenge - "FANTASY".
I hope that you like it.
This is the saying that I have placed on my page.

Full layout. Loving the colours.
I love the distress crackle paint!

I made these gates with my new 'Silhouette SD' machine. Just the best thing!!!

I've tried to make it look like you are seeing through secret garden gates that lead down to the bottom of the gardern to go to where the fairies live & play.

I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.
May you all have the best time with family and friends, enjoying good food & lots of laughter and the making of wonderful memories. Stay safe and healthy and enjoy the festive spirit.
Cheers & all the best.

Oh FANTASY .....

Well as it's nearly Christmas ........ (as if we need reminding!! ha ) .....
I thought I would sing a little Christmas carol that works well with our challenge for this month.
So my lovelies .... here goes .....

[sung to tune of - 'Oh Christmas Tree']

Oh FANTASY,
Oh FANTASY.
How I wish you'd visit me.

We'd sit, relax
and chat awhile.

Have a drink
and crack a smile.

Oh FANTASY,
Oh FANTASY.
Don't take too long to visit me!!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU , THANK YOU !!!!!
[she says bowing to the crowd frantically clapping & screaming for more! Now
there's a FANTASY !!! hee hee]

I think it's a good idea that you can't HEAR me !! lol

Enjoy your day.

Fantasy ....mmmmmmm ...

Well today I want to tell you about my fantasy .......

Firstly, an angel would knock on my door & tell me to sit down and actually enjoy my cuppa (vanilla latte, yum), put my feet up & relax.

She would clean my house from top to bottom, doing ALL those little things that never seem to get done!!! It would sparkle, glisten & smell oh sooooooo good.

Secondly, one Australia's top chefs would pop on over and cook me up a storm of Christmas goodies to share with EVERYONE!!! Yum, yum, YUM!!!!!

Thirdly, Jamie Dury would call in to say 'hi' and then proceed to 'spruce up' my garden. How cool would that be & I certainly wouldn't mind a water feature!! hee hee

Lastly but oh so importantly, 'the boys' would be passing by in the car, stop call in and offer to give me a wonderful foot & back massage. Mmmmmmmm, woo hoo!!!

But alas, I am only dreaming and living in a FANTASY!!!!!

Hope all is going well with your preparations for Christmas & your challenge.

Surprise ......

The Shimmer saga concludes today.
READY ....

"Surprise!!" cried Mouse, presenting each guest with a juicy berry wrapped in sparkling cobwebs.

"Welcome to my SHARE A BLACKBERRY party!!"

Everyone tucked in.

"Thank you for sharing your berries!" they cried.

"You should thank Shimmer." said Mouse, "for showing me just how much fun sharing can be!"

THE END

Cheers Sandie xxx

Saturday, December 19, 2009

Shimmer cont ....

"So what are you going to do with them?" asked Shimmer.

Mouse looked thoughtful.

"I don't know!" he squeaked.

"Then I have an idea!" said the wise fairy.

The next morning each of mouse's friends found a mysterious note on their doorstep.

"Please come to the glade at noon." they read.

"Who could have sent the invitations?" they wondered, as they made their way to the glade.

But no-one could guess what was waiting for them!

Can you guess what the surprise may be ?????

Shimmer ....

Today's story is the beginnings of .....

Shimmer, the Sharing Fairy.

One day, Shimmer the Sharing Fairy, was busy gathering cobwebs in the woods when she saw Mouse all alone.

"Where are your friends?" she asked.

Mouse sniffed unhappily.

"They're gone home!" he sqeaked.

"Just because I wouldn't let them eat my blackberries!"

Shimmer smiled, "Are you going to eat them all?" she asked.

"Oh no!!" replied the little mouse.

"That would give me a tummy ache!"

Hmmmmmm, I wonder if he will end up sharing?

TILLY - the Truth Fairy.

This is Tilly. And this is little bunny with his friends.

Hope the creativity is flowing.
cheers Sandie xxx

Tilly concludes ....

cont ...

"No" he squeaked. "I was fibbing. I thought everyone would like me better if I lived in a palace.'

Tilly smiled.

"You don't need to live in a palace for everyone to like you." she said.

"Friends like you for who you are. Just tell them the truth!!"

And that's exactly what little bunny did.

"I don't really live in a palace." he told the animals.

"I live in a burrow. But you can still come to visit me if you like."

His friends laughed.

"Thank goodness for that!" they said.

"We'd been much too nervous to visit a palace. Let's go and play at your burrow right now!!"

Well I'm so glad he finally told them the truth as everyone felt much better then.

Cheers for now.

Tilly continues ....

Sorry about missing a post yesterday but I don't think anyone missed me !!! hee hee
I was going to do it then was interupted, then I didn't have time as I was going out.

So the story continues now ....

In the middle of the crowd was a baby bunny waving his paws excitedly.

"My house has one hundred rooms." he squeaked.

"In fact it's a palace!! "

"Wow!" gasped the animals.

"Can we come and visit you?"

The little bunny blushed. "Of course." he stammered.

"Any time you like."

"Do you really live in a palace?" asked Tilly, when the others had gone.

The baby bunny blushed again, this time to the tips of his ears.

What is going to happen????? Will he be 'found out' ?????

Find out tomorrow. cheers Sandie xxx

The birds flew over the whole woods. Soon every animal from the smallest mouse, to the biggest badger knew all about Squirrel's party.

The lettering I used is Quikutz 'girls are weird' dies.

Corner embellishment is just random button and meshy type ribbon.

What happened to Tuesday?

Poo Bum Wee.... thought I did a quote for Tuesday. Ok, just pretend it is still Tuesday and then I will be back later for Wednesday, OK??

Oooops missed Sunday...

was too busy driving around Victoria. Andrew decided that it was only 200 kms to the snow so off we went as it had snowed on Saturday night! Here is the top of Mt Buller.

Spent all day in the car and didn't get to the computer!!

Here is a change quote for Sunday:

"I thought I could change the world. It took me a hundred years to figure out I can't change the world. I can only change Bessie (myself). And honey, that ain't easy either." Annie Elizabeth Delany

And one for today....

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." Barack Obama
Hope you all had a great weekend? I will put more photos on my blog.

let's CHANGE ......

So here is my version of this month's challenge set by Kathryn. I hope that you like it as much as I had making it!! Here is my little metal butterfly added to my page. As you all know I am a little into flutterbys, so I thought that I would add one to my layout.
Journalling was to be a focus for this challenge, so I created a little story. hee hee

Different sizes in photos were placed together as a bit of a mosiac look.

Chipboard letters were painted in colours that change as they go along.

I thought that this would be a different subject to create a page about ...... and , yes ........ they were YUMMY!!!!
Cheers Sandie xxxxx

spring has finally sprung!!!

hi there guys, sorry for the lateness of this last layout . yes sandie it is here, thanks for helping me but it has been hidden under paperwork, buying and selling houses has me a bit frazzled!!

i chose spring follies in paris as my theme. checkout my suitcase, i am proud of that, made it myself.

i used so many things but graphic 45 makes an appearance and of course distress embossing powders and lots of yummy goodness..

hope you like it xxx coco

Saturday

and what is everyone up to?? We are off to travel on the Talking Tram and check out the Chinese Museum here in Bendigo.

Today's quote is....

Interesting Quote

I was neurotic for years. I was anxious and depressed and selfish. Everyone kept telling me to change. I resented them and I agreed with them, and I wanted to change, but simply couldn't, no matter how hard I tried. Then one day someone said to me, "Don't change. I love you just as you are." Those words were music to my ears: "Don't change, Don't change. Don't change . . . I love you as you are." I relaxed. I came alive. And suddenly I changed!

Anthony de Mello

Hello again...

... and here is another quote for you.

People can't live with change if there's not a changeless core inside them. The key to the ability to change is a changeless sense of who you are, what you are about and what you value. - Stephen Covey.

I hope you are all having a lovely day. Today Daniel and I took Granny to the Sacred Heart Cathedral. Even for a non-religious person like me, this amazing gothic style building was awe inspiring! It is huge and on the top of the hill in the middle of the city. Check out my blog for pictures later.

Then we went to the big shopping centre for a wander around, including a yummy citrus tart and gloria jeans coffee. I found a lovely teal coloured crocheted top on sale, so a great day out!! This is part of my change from a country bumpkin to a city slicker!! LOL

More Posts

to liven up our little blog, I am going to add a quote for each day for the next week. I hope you enjoy...

There will be two today as I meant to start yesterday, but got carried away with housework and driving to Melbourne Airport to collect the Granny Bird.

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts." Arnold Bennett

Change

Now you didn't expect this that quick did you...To be truthful I had been planning to do this layout in my head for a few days now and coincidentally the journaling was going to be along the lines of change anyway so imagine how happy I was when I read about the theme of Kathryn's challenge. there is a tone on tone border (fiskars) on the brown cardstock that you cannot see in the top photo. Papers are cosmo cricket , stamps are Technique Tuesday and the cardstock is from (Kraft)Aussiescrapsource and the brown from Camelot, not sure of the brand though. will be stocking upon more of this colour next time I am there, it's a lovely shade.

Can't wait to see what every one else comes up with
(I'm hoping that by writing this big you will all see it and post your layouts, ha ha...)

Cheers,

Susy.

Monday, October 12, 2009

What?? Is it really October?

Yes, Kathryn and it is the 12th already which means you are 12 days behind setting the challenge for the month!

Apologies lovely ladies, please forgive me?

Ok, your mission this month should you choose to accept it is....
A one word challenge....
and the word is......

CHANGE

You need to do a layout on this word, with the journalling being an important part of it.

Change is inevitable. Change is always happening. You can do your layout on the change you can see in ...
you
your life
your child
the seasons
the economy
the world
or in your pocket!!!

"If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude. Don't complain." - Maya Angelou

In the nick of time.

I finally finished my September challenge, not sure how I feel about this one, I know I don't love it and I'm not even sure if I like it but it's going to do because I am out of time, lol. I took a few liberties with it, the photo is horizontal instead of vertical and the title is to the left of the journaling block instead of on top but other than that I think pretty much everything else was done to the instructions. Now I am looking forward to what Kathryn's challenge is for October.

SPRING!

This is my monthly challenge page. I've titled it - 'Spring'. These are flowers in my garden. They are nothing special really but are - o - so gorgeous!!! These are cute 'smiley face' beads that matched my page in colour & feeling. Cute hey!!
This is my touch of humour for this challenge, hee hee hee. The question is - is it true???? lol

Another view of my page.

I really enjoyed doing this challenge as I felt like I didn't have to 'think', just follow the instructions.

Thanks for popping along to see my challenge page this month.

Jane's September challenge via Sue.

I recieved this email from Jane to put up here, she is having computer troubles.

Bloomin Spring Challenge

Having travelled to Nelson earlier this year with Sandie and Maria for a day of Scrapping we were asked to complete a blind challenge. It was amazing to see how everyone interpreted the instructions and to see the different combinations of paper the participants came up with. So this month your very slack friend and scrapper thought we could help celebrate spring with a Bloomin Spring Challenge(flowers). Below is a list of requirements and instructions for you to use. And yes you can add more finishing touches if you desire. Good Luck.

Requirements

4” X 6” portrait photo in a spring theme

Cardstock for base

Pattern Paper (PP) #1 cut to 10” X 6”

PP #2 10” X 1”

PP #3 6 1/2” X 4 1/2” to be used as a frame for photo

PP #4 10 3/4 “ X 1 ½”

Large Journaling Block

1 spring embellishment or bling

Ribbon

Corner Rounder

Ink

Step 1 Use corner rounder to round corners on you base cardstock, then ink around edges.

Step 2. Round top right hand corner of PP#1 (10 X 6) piece. Ink top and right hand sides of PP#1.

Step 3. Scallop one edge of PP#2 with corner rounder or a decorative border punch.

Step 4 . PP# 1Stick vertical, right hand edge only on to base card ¾” down from top and ½” from the right hand edge.

Step 5. Stick PP#2 under left side of PP#1 so ½” of scallops are facing left edge of base card.

Step6. Round corners of photo and stick on to PP#3 leaving a border around photo. Ink edges of border.

Step 7. Tie a bow in your ribbon and place so that bow sits just under photo and just to the right of the middle. Stick framed photo onto PP#1 1 ½ “ from top and ½ “from right hand side.

Step 8. Scallop or decorate with border punch along top of PP#4 and round other 2 corners which will be the bottom once paper is stuck down.

Step 9. Stick PP#4 horizontally across bottom of page ½ “ from bottom of base and overlapping PP#1 and so it is even on right hand side with PP#1.

Step 10. Journal on to your journaling block and mount with magic mount. Stick on bottom left hand side of photo so it overlaps photo, PP#1 and PP#4 and touch base card.

Step 11. stick embellishment, bling next to journaling block on right hand side.

Step 12. Place title above journaling block.

Step 13. Your done unless you want to add more finishing touches (which I know you girls will).

I hope this comes up ok, I have copied and pasted it directly from Jane's email.
cheers and have fun,
sue.

a bit of a close up...

This was an afterthought, it probably should have been part of my first post anyway hopefully it is clear...

Sharon's Winter Wonderland Layout...

I am VERY sorry this is so late but hey took a while to get creative again after our holiday, then I was having technical difficulties, then some tragedy, then more technical difficulties - hence e-mail it to Donna and she got the pleasure of doing it for me!
Anyway my page... I really had to Ponder 'Winter Wonderland' ... Many ideas but nothing I liked... So I resorted to the photo albums and came across this one of Emma in her 'Snow Suit' not that we ever went to the snow but I used to walk everywhere when she was little and she had to be toasty warm... Loved her little face peeking out of her suit so I decided that was the photo! Not my most technically challenging page but I liked the effect...
Very Pink Bazzill (have no idea on what colour) and White quite striking I think! I made a stencil with a snowflake punch... Then using white acrylic paint stencilled on snow-flakes which went blurry so I then punched out snowflakes and painstakingly glued on every little piece to accentuate a few of the flakes! Then I painted a chipboard 'W' white and then went mental with the end of a paintbrush and white paint and did dot letters for the 'inter' bit of 'winter' and did some 'flurries' around the snowflakes... Pleated up white ribbon across the page to represent snow drifts... Using my white gel pen I journelled around the edge of the page then added some Pink bling to finish it off! The white paint as it dried turned a soft pink but I like it! A little basic but at least I finally got it finished! I like the over all effect!

Pretty in Pink!!

Hi girls!!
Layout number 2 for me. I had soooooo much fun doing this one too. I really like it, which is a bit of a surprise for me as I don't usually like pics of me!!!
So thank you Donna for making me have a look at myself.
I used pinks with this page as the photo lent that way & I didn't want to end up using blues again as I tend to, being my fav colour!! This is a close up of the top corner with this 'so right for the page' pink & black button!

Materials used are:
Bazzill - pink
Basic Grey patterned paper - Urban Prairie/Bonnet
Butterfly Stickers & feather - Trevs
Random buttons
Bella Chipz - alphabet
Kaiser Colour paint - pretty Pink
Celebrations of Australia - glitter
VersaFine Ink - 24 Opera Pink
RW Cuts - felt flower
Pearl ribbon & mini alphabet letters- Trevs
Thanks for looking!!

So I 've journalled a little about myself and included 3 (yes not 1 but 3 !!!) pictures of myself as Donna said so, lol.
I must apologise that it's not a brilliant photo but with the photo club starting up soon, & I am attending, that should improve!??! (hopefully).

Getting in early

with a very simple little layout about my quest to become a better photographer. The title reads, 'is this how the world sees me, because this is how I see the world?' Sometimes I think the kids see more of the lens of my camera than me, at events and sports any way. Most of the time they don't seem to mind though. I'm not sure what is happening with the colours, the aqua looks a little deeper IRL and even on the original photo but the action I use to resize for the web seems to be desaturating my images a little lately. I probably have a setting clicked wrong or something knowing me. wish the dotty card would show up a little better too, it is so cool, must get me some more when I'm in Adelaide the weekend after next..

Cardstock-bazzill swiss dot(aqua, white), Aussie scrap source(black and kraft)
Brads-FTI
Stamps-Stampin up and making memories
Ink-versafine
Alphabet dies-various quickutz
Punches-Fiskars (border punch), stampin up(curly label punch) and EK success(circle).
Colluzle circle template

Late entry

Sorry my fault, I'm late putting Maria's layout up, It was ready to go up yesterday but I ended up being a little busy.
I've loved seeing every ones work over the last month, brilliant effort.

Here's Maria's description in her own words. Oh and don't forget to click on the image to see it larger and read her journaling, it made me giggle.

I have finally started with snow photos that Liz sent me.
Not sure about the paper that is the background, I bought it when we were at paperific.
The paper with the snowmen I know is one from Basic Grey.
Stickers are from Jolee Creations and did some inking around edges and
Seafoam white embossing around the edges of the velum.
Found a tag from my outfit that I bought for Seamus' confirmation and painted it with Soft Moss (except the white swirls)
Then cut out letters using my Cricut and tied the tag onto the page with some ribbon.
Had a great time doing this, even if I left it almost to the last moment.
Cheers

handing over the baton....

Hello my sweet gentlewomen,

Just a final note from me...host of our first challenge.I am so very excited that we have produced work of such a beautiful standard. I realise there are a couple to still come. I am unfortunately not able to blog tomorrow night as we have arrangements so I thought I would touch base tonight. I get to attend the Black Duck Award Ceremony. As you know the emblem for Swannie is the Black Swan, proudly worn on the uniform of Dave(my Darling Man) . The staff have knicknamed the Swan the Black Duck and so service awards and recognition is in the form of his ceremony. I am attending and having a reason to go out for tea.

With regards to Scraperlicious Scrappers , it is a privelage to be amongst such talented people. We all have our own style and abilities we are fortunate to all be able to learn from one another. I would also like to add I won't be the only interstate diva as Kathryn will soon join those ranks. I sincerely hope that move is as seamless as possible and that all the health issues in your family are resolved soon.

I think we have an excuse...not that we needed one but an annual reunion might be a grand idea with our albums, with all twelve challenges for the year to be displayed. Some food, a wee dram and some fantastic company to showcase our achievements might be great. Melbourne might be suggestion some great pubs and cheap hotels etc. Think about it.

I hope you all liked my writing piece , I don't often get so inspired but really enjoy it , maybe I can have my critics and drop the odd story in for practice.

I am as you all know not a scrapbooker. Neither do I claim that it is a talent of mine but the inspiration and the challenge was great fun. It enabled me to go out of my comfort zone and have some fun. I actually was also able to go to a scrap night here in Swannie, buy a couple of products and I had the company of a lovely lady called Bev for the evening. I scrapped, talked laughed and did a sticky beak of other scrappers pages. All in all a very positive experience.

I with anticipation hand over the baton to our Delicious Donna, card maker genius and a very busy diva with all her challenges.Donna your cards have blown me away. You are making friends and doing something you love.I admire that so ...much. Here is a gargantuous cococuddle and be gentle with us...Love and kisses Coco xx

Kiss someone delicious and love to love someone xxx
